Inspectors recognise college improvements

CELEBRATIONS are in order at North Notts College after Ofsted inspectors rated it ‘good’.

The college, on Carlton Road in Worksop, was previously given a ‘satisfactory’ score after Ofsted’s last visit in 2009.

A team of nine inspectors visited the college just before Christmas under the new short notice arrangements and spent a week looking at the college and its 1,150 full time and 3,800 part time students.

The resulting report grades North Notts College as ‘good’ for overall effectiveness, and for each of the key areas: outcomes for learners, quality of teaching, learning and assessment and the effectiveness of leadership and management.

Principal, John Connolly, said that he and the Governors were delighted with the report. “I am particularly pleased that the inspection report highlights the strength of our guidance and support for our students, and the very good practical teaching that we offer them,” he said.

Chair of governors, Mr Atholl Stott, added: “All of the governors are now looking forward to using the report’s findings to support the college in delivering even greater success in the future.”
