Inquest opens into Glen Kitchens’ death

The 40-year-old died as a result of his injuries following the incident on Bridge Street on the evening of Saturday 6th April.

Assistant deputy coroner Elizabeth Didcock opened and adjourned the inquest into Mr Kitchens death at Nottingham Coroner’s Court on Friday.

Details of Mr Kitchens funeral were released earlier this week following the inquest opening.

His funeral will take place at the Priory Church on Tuesday 14th May at 1.30pm.

Mourners are invited to wear black or casual clothing in memory of him.

There is expected to be a big turnout after hundreds of mourners joined a group on social networking page Facebook, set up in memory of Mr Kitchens, who lived in the Sunnyside area of Worksop and was a was a former Hartland School pupil.

He was described as a ‘kind’ and ‘placid’ man by those who knew him and a friendly face on Worksop’s social scene.

Dozens of floral tributes also remain near the scene where the window fitter died, on Bridge Street at its junction with Central Avenue and Ryton Street.

A 16-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has appeared in court charged with Mr Kitchens’ manslaughter.
