Several crews from across the region battled the blaze for hours after it broke out at a unit on Plum Tree Road Industrial Estate at around 5.30pm on Tuesday, April 20.

At its height firefighters from Worksop, Retford, Harworth, Mansfield, Edlington, Staveley, Rotherham and Doncaster were all working to extinguish the fire.

A plume of black smoke could be seen for miles with residents urged to close their doors and windows.

No-one was harmed and a subsequent investigation into the fire revealed it had been started accidentally.

A spokesman for Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue said: “Businesses located within the Plumtree Industrial Estate were visited on April 21 and were provided with fire safety advice in line with the Regulatory Fire Safety Reform Order 2005.

"We have also visited nearby residents with similar information. The cause was accidental.”
