How enterprising!

The pupils from Harthill Primary School hosted a market to sell the products they had made during enterprise week last month.

“For enterprise week each class chose a different charity to raise money for,” said deputy headteacher Kate Raynor.

“The school council came up with the list of charities and each class took it from there.”

During the week the children designed and made a range of products relating to the charity they were supporting.

They then sold their impressive creations to parents at the enterprise market on Friday.

“The products all related to the charities in some way,” continued Mrs Raynor.

“So for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice the children made paper weights and plant pots, and the class supporting Wateraid made fabric bottle holders.”

“For the RNLI they made stationary sets and bookmarks and for Impact Kenya they made musical instruments.”

“The classes supporting Thornberry Animal Sanctuary and Support Dogs made animal themed items and biscuits.”

All the money raised from the sale of the crafts will go to the six charities.

The school runs the enterprise week every year, with a different theme each time.

“The year the theme was charity, but in the past we have done lots of different things including a going green theme,” added Mrs Raynor.

“The children all loved it, and enjoyed the chance of working together in their classes and across the whole school to develop their products.”

“It is a great way for them to develop important skills including teamwork.”
