Amjad Ali, of Broad Lane, appeared at Sheffield Crown Court and pleaded guilty to sexual intercourse with a girl under 13 years.

The offence took place in Rotherham between 2000 and 2001.

Temporary Detective Chief Inspector Martin Tate said: “We built a significant case against Ali, leading to his guilty plea at court.

“This is no consolation, however, to the abuse she experienced at his hands.

“This forms part of our ongoing commitment to tackle child sexual exploitation in our region.”

Ali has been bailed by the courts and will receive his sentence at a later date.
