Hazard is first Retford Wheeler in the Hill Climb

Last Sunday Retford and District Wheelers Cycling Club held their Hill Climb Championship up Gringley Beacon.

It was followed by the popular downhill freewheel ride for longest distance.

A total of 17 riders entered the Hill Climb event but about twice this number took part in the downhill ride.

Retford Wheelers Hill climb Championship results: 1st A. Hazard 2mins 12secs. 2nd T. Oaks 2.17, 3rd B. Weenink 2.19, 4th S. Rollinson 2.21, 5th J. Walker 2.35, 6th C. Briggs 2.40, 7th R. Pennington 2.41, 8th P. Austin 2.52, 9th D. Battersby 2.58.

The downhill section was won by S. Rollinson.

The overall winner for both uphill and downhill sections was J. Vickers of Trent Valley RC in 2mins 07secs. 2nd A.Hazard, joint 3rd R.Webster, Trent Valley R.C. and A. Lewin Scunthorpe Poly. 2.16.

Other riders: M. Rodgers, Harworth & District 2.27, M. Geller, Trent Valley R. 2.40, J. Owens, Harworth & District 2.51, I. Ferraby, Trent Valley RC 2.54, P. Lees, Harworth & District 3.02.

Next Sunday’s club run is a ride of about 30 miles for new riders, at a more leisurely and social pace.
