Harworth woman fights off robber on bike who tried to grab her bag and phone

Police are appealing to the public for help following an attempted robbery of a handbag and mobile phone in Harworth.

The incident took place at around 6.15pm on Sunday (24 July).

A woman was walking along the footpath between Snipe Park and Brookside Walk when a man approached her from behind on a bicycle and made a grab for her mobile phone and handbag, knocking the woman to the ground in the process.

However, the would-be robber, who was wearing a dark-coloured hooded top, rode from the scene empty-handed after the woman fought back.

Officers would like to hear from anyone who witnessed what happened, who saw a man in a hooded top on a bike in the area at the time or anyone with any information about this incident. Please call 101 quoting incident number 774 of 24 July 2016 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
