Harworth: Man banned from keeping dogs for 10 years

Simon Robson, 35, of Bawtry Road, Harworth, was sentenced at Worksop Magistrates Court after being found guilty of causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal.

Robson was responsible for the welfare of three dogs, Rob, Toby and Nell. Two were found to be seriously dehydrated and Nell had died.

RSPCA representative, David Payne, explained that the dogs previously belonged to Robson’s grandfather, who lived on Little Grange Farm, Barnby Moore, Retford before he moved into a home. Care for the dogs was then shared between Robson and his mother.

Defending, Sarah Neale, said that Robson was suspended from his place of work in June of last year. He worked at the same place as his mother and was unable to have any communication with her throughout his suspension.

During this time Robson was unaware his mother had stopped taking care of the dogs so only visited them every two to three days.

Robson was sentenced to a 12 week suspended custodial sentence, 120 hours of unpaid work, fined £1917.71, £60 victim surcharge and disqualified from keeping dogs for 10 years.
