As of 6th April, 2016, it will be compulsory for dogs to be microchipped and the council is working in partnership with Dogs Trust to offer a free microchipping session next Monday (4th November).

Dogs Trust and the council’s dog warden will be at the Harworth and Bircotes Information Centre on Scrooby Road, between 11am and 3pm and no appointment is needed.

Cabinet member for Neighbourhoods, Coun Julie Leigh said: “I’m delighted that Dogs Trust are running this event as part of their national programme to provide free microchipping, which is the single most effective way to get a dog returned to its owner.”

“We hope that dog owners who have not already had their pet microchipped will be able to come along.”
