Harthill: Transformation of Harthill Hall to be unveiled to the public

There will be an open morning from 10am until 12pm at the hall on Winney Hill, Harthill, so the residents can see how the building has been improved.

Work to the village hall started on the 4th of June and it was the latest phase of the continued refurbishment of the former Miners’ Welfare building, which dates back to 1920.

The kitchen and lounge were refurbished in 2012 and on Saturday, residents will be able to see new insulation and LED lighting, improving the building’s energy-efficiency.

A new suspended ceiling has also been added and the main hall has been redecorated.

The parish council held two consultation evenings and people were given the opportunity to have their say about what the community would like to see in the plans for the refurbishment of the hall.

Village Hall Chairman, Brian Shutt, said: “We are really looking forward to showing off our transformed hall on Saturday.”

“ I would like to thank everyone who gave their time, effort, and funds, to help us transform the hall into a modern, comfortable and attractive building that is a true centre of community activity.”

Funding for the project came from several sources, including Harthill with Woodall Parish Council, and The Veolia Environmental Trust who awarded a grant of £18,700 through the Landfill Communities Fund.
