Winners on the night, which was held at Lincolnshire Showground, included the Kirton in Lindsey Food Store in High Street which triumphed with the Food Store of the Year silver award.

The team was recognised for scooping more than 300 ‘WOWS’ on customer satisfaction surveys which are recorded when a member of the public goes online to praise an individual.

And the Colleague of the Year bronze award was bestowed on funeral director Peter Riley, who runs Gainsborough, Retford and Market Rasen Funeral Homes.

He was honoured for working together with Bassetlaw Hospice in Retford to organise a 1940s-themed fundraising event, doing everything from selling tickets to decorating the hall, and helping organise staff volunteering events at the hospice.

Peter said: “I was shocked and humbled to win the bronze award – as far as I’m concerned, it’s part of my job.

“We’re a local organisation we want to support other local groups and make connections in the community. When you see what they do at the hospice, you can’t help but want to get involved and support them.”

Chief Executive of Lincolnshire Co-op, Ursula Lidbetter, said: “I am proud and grateful to have these helpful and inspiring people on our team.”
