A family living in Worksop recently contacted me about their house insurance and how they were being charged a huge amount of money just to insure their family home.

This house is not different or located in a particular area or been affected by flooding or subsidence.

It’s just a standard house in Worksop.

A quick look on the internet meant that I was able to help this family save £600 a year off their home insurance.

Whilst many people are able to sort this out themselves by going onto the online cost comparison sites, this highlighted to me that there are many other households which are not internet savvy and are faced with having to pay the full whack.

If you feel that you are paying too much for your home insurance, please contact me and I will see if I can help save you some money.

I can be contacted by email at or by phone on 01909 506200.

It was announced this week that there will be a more regular and improved train service from Worksop to Retford and Sheffield.

From December, there will be two trains per hour from Worksop and Retford to Sheffield and Gainsborough.

There will also be a non-stop, faster service from Worksop and Sheffield.

This is long waited for but good to hear.

The Commonwealth Games are underway in Australia and it has been inspiring to see so many different sports showcased at the one of the most prestigious inter-national sporting events

I want to congratulate Worksop lad Sam Walker, who successfully won a bronze medal in the team table tennis event earlier this week.

I know that the town will be bursting with pride at his superb achievement.

He is an inspiration for us all.

If you are looking to get involved with any sport, the BBC’s Get Inspired website has plenty of information about your local sporting facilities.
