Sisters Jessica, 11, and Amelia Cooper, 10, who are pupils at Sparken Hill Academy, received their roses last week after being nominated by staff at the school.

Their hair will be made into wigs and donated to young children who are suffering from hair loss as a result of illness. This includes children who are suffering alopecia, cancer and leukaemia.

As well as donating their hair, the sisters are aiming to raise whatever they can to help the charity.

Principal of Sparken Hill Academy, Richard Lilley said, “We pride ourselves in being a very caring school and we have hundreds of thoughtful pupils.”

“However, this commitment by Jessica and Amelia really touched our hearts.”

“It is such a brave and incredibly thoughtful decision especially from pupils so young. That’s why we nominated them both for the Guardian Rose Award”.

Readers can help the girls in their campaign by texting “JWVU66 £2” to 70070. They are looking to raise £300 for the trust.

Our Guardian roses are generously provided by top Worksop florist Walker’s House of Flowers, based in the Priory shopping centre. For more information, call 01909 484507.
