Notts County Council has expanded its online gritting map by introducing bordering authorities.
The map allows residents to view the roads the authority is gritting this winter.
The County Council and bordering authorities all have a mutual agreement to grit each others routes if they cross into their areas as this saves gritters from crossing each others paths and saves time and money.
It originally showed all the routes gritted by the county council but now, following feedback, includes routes gritted by Nottingham City Council and routes at the edge of the county that are gritted by Derbyshire County Council, Lincolnshire County Council, Leicestershire County Council and South Yorkshire County Council.
Notts County Councillor Richard Jackson, Cabinet Member for Transport and Highways, said: “During this month’s snow the online map was in the top ten most viewed pages on our website which shows that people are taking the initiative and helping themselves to work out which roads are going to be gritted before they make their journey.”
