Gran’s shop theft spree

A GRANDMOTHER from Langold has been fined after stealing over £200-worth of shopping from Asda in Retford.

Elizabeth Ann McCully, 56, from Dyscarr Close, admitted filling her trolley with clothes and groceries to the value of £222.97 in the superstore on 31st March, before leaving the store without paying.

A security guard saw McCully leave the store without paying.

Once arrested, she made full admissions and said that she had no money but needed to buy groceries as her grandchildren were coming to stay.

“I just thought I could fill up the trolley and walk out,” she said.

She said she was ‘silly’ and ‘naive’, before being fined £100 and ordered to pay a £15 victim’s surcharge.
