Golf club captains are in the swing for charities

Retford Golf Club's 2015 captains Angie Dyer and Neil Martindale worked hard throughout last year to lead fund-raising for their chosen charities, both of which are close to their hearts.

Many activities took place including a sponsored open golf competition, clothing collections, social events and donations from members.

This month, Angie and Neil handed cheques over to the two fund-raising managers from the Azheimers Society and the British Heart Foundation charities.

The total amount raised during the year was £5187.10 split equally between these two worthwhile charities.

In Britain heart and circulatory disease takes the life of more than 400 people in the UK each day.

The money raised will go towards funding valuable research.

An Alzheimer’s Society spokesman said: “We wish to pass on our thanks to everyone at Retford Golf Club.

“The funds will be put to work right away to help people living with dementia and their carers.

“The condition has a devastating impact on the lives of those affected and with donations such as this, support , advice and services can be provided to people with dementia and their carers.”
