Carly Mitchell, account executive at Capita Document & Information Services in Mansfield, and one of the participants, said: “My mum died from cancer when I was very young.

“I’ve been keen to raise money to fight this illness so others don’t have to go through what I did in future.

“A number of the other girls in the team have also been affected by the loss of family members and friends and those who haven’t were just as keen to join in the fight and support this great cause.

“I have been taking part in Race for Life every year for the last seven years and was keen to try something different.

“It was a really great day and we laughed a lot.

“We thought incorporating mud and obstacles would make it a bit more fun and it did just that.”

The Pretty Muddy event is a five kilometre muddy obstacle course where participants are invited to ‘show cancer that hell hath no fury like a woman in pink’.
