GCSEs: Maltby students celebrate Academic success

Seventy one per cent of all GCSE students achieved the benchmark of five A* - C grades, including maths and English, the highest ever pass rate at the school.

The maths and English departments also broke their own records with 79 per cent and 81 per cent pass rates respectively.

But it was science that came out top, with a 98.4 per cent pass rate across biology, chemistry and physics.

The number of Maltby Academy students achieving the Ebac qualification increased to 24 per cent.

The English Baccalaureate recognises where pupils have secured a C grade or better across English, maths, history or geography, the sciences and a language.

And yet again every student left with at least one GCSE.

Some of the most outstanding Maltby students included:

Thomas Symms with nine A*s and an A grade; Shannon Lunn who got seven A*s and three As; Eddie O’Toole who achieved six A*s and four As; Hollie Critchlow’s five A*s and four As; and Megan Smith with four A*s and six As.
