Gang admits to pizza man attack

A man and three teenagers have pleaded guilty to a Dinnington robbery in which a pizza delivery driver received serious stab injuries.

The 43-year-old victim from First Stop Pizza was ambushed by the four-strong gang in Nursery Road, Dinnington on 7th February this year.

He had to be rushed to Rotherham Hospital for treatment to his wounds.

Two 18-year-olds and a 16-year -old appeared before Recorder Andrew Haslam at Sheffield Crown Court on Monday.

All three admitted theft by joint enterprise in that they stole four pizzas in an insulated bag belonging to First Stop Pizza.

A fourth defendant Daniel Ball, 22, has previously pleaded guilty to robbery and possessing a bladed article.

Prosecutor Megan Rhys said the three teenagers had initially been charged with robbery but pleas to the lesser offence of theft were acceptable to the prosecution.

The 16-year-old was given bail on condition of his residence and overnight electronic tagging.

The hearing was adjourned for sentence at a date to be fixed.
