Members of the town partnership presented the cheque to Gainsborough In Bloom last week.

The Gainsborough in Bloom volunteers have been hard at work over the last few months to get the town looking its best for the East Midlands In Bloom judges.

They have installed planters throughout the Market Place, bringing some welcome colour and interest to the area.

The group of volunteers has also been busy planting and maintaining flower beds around the town, as well as tidying-up some areas in need of a little extra care.

Gainsborough has been entered into the East Midlands in Bloom competition, which was judged on 10th July.

An annual competition organised by the East Midlands In Bloom Regional Committee, this is one of 18 regions that together create Britain in Bloom.

Arranged by the Royal Horticultural Society, the competition is voluntary and not-for-profit and aims to improve the environments people live in through the use of nature and landscape design.

The Gainsborough group is hoping to achieve silver status, to go one better and improve on the bronze award they won in 2012.

They will find out the results in September.
