Aleksandra Tusien, of Langleys Solicitors who organise the awards, said: “We receive lots of entries for all our categories but the most competition last year was for the Apprentice of the Year award.”

“With the growing number of apprenticeships in business in a range of sectors, we expect a strong flow of entries again for the apprentice category this year as well as a healthy number in the other seven categories.”

Last year’s Apprentice of the Year was Jordan Phillips who works as a plumber for Galatia LLP.

The 2015 awards categories are Business of the Year, Best Small Business of the Year, Business Person of the Year, Apprentice of the Year, Best New Business, Best Use of Innovation/Technology, Outstanding Contribution to the Community and Best Customer Service.

It was quickly recognised that Gainsborough had a significant number of excellent businesses and great things were happening in the business world in and around the local area, but not enough was being done to recognise these business achievements.

Langleys Solicitors and Ideafuel therefore came together to organise the first ever Gainsborough Business Awards in 2010, with Langleys Solicitors organising the sponsorship of the event, application process and general preparations for the event, whilst Ideafuel oversaw the creative side of the project, creating a brand for the Awards and modern designs for a new website and promotional material.
