Gainsborough: Three appear in court charged in connection with the murder of Ivans Zdanovics

Two men charged with the murder of a Latvian man in Gainsborough appeared at Lincoln Crown Court today (Monday).

Ivans Zdanovics’ body was found at a house in Etherington Street, Gainsborough, after a fire in January.

Martynas Kupstys, 25, of Aegir Close, Gainsborough, and Andrus Giedraitis, 29, of Riseholme Road, Gainsborough, have each been charged with murder and perverting the course of justice.

Sandra Kupstiene, 28, of Aegir Close, Gainsborough, has also been charged with perverting the course of justice.

Speaking through a Lithuanian interpreter all three spoke only to confirm their names when they appeared at Lincoln Crown Court for a preliminary hearing this morning. (Mon)

All three will next appear at Lincoln Crown Court for a plea and case management hearing on 9th May.

Judge Michael Heath adjourned the case for a provisional trial date at Lincoln Crown Court beginning on 21st July. The trial is expected to last up to ten days.

All three defendants were remanded in to custody until their next court appearance in May.

Lincolnshire Police said at some point before the 24-year-old’s body was discovered, the house had been on fire.

The force said indications were he died as a result of smoke inhalation.
