Gainsborough: Tell us why you should be Santa’s helper at this year’s Christmas lights switch on in Marshall’s Yard

Youngsters across the area are being asked to write in and explain why they should help Santa at the Big Lights Switch On being held on Saturday, November 21, and press the button which will light up Marshall’s Yard for the festive season.

The winning child will win a fantastic M and S Christmas Hamper for their family, a Christmas turkey and a traditional family board game as well as the opportunity to be the star of the show and switch on the lights.

As the crowds head up Market Street from the Town Centre Switch On at 5pm on November 21, Santa will need his little helper to switch the Yard’s lights on at 6pm.

This year’s Switch On will be followed by a spectacular fireworks display over Gainsborough.

Santa has teamed up with the team at Marshall’s Yard and the Gainsborough Standard to ask the town’s youngsters to write in and explain why you should be the one to light up Gainsborough for the festive period this year.

Entries should be a maximum of 200 words, which can be emailed to the Gainsborough Standard at [email protected] or delivered to The Gainsborough Standard office in Britannia House in Marshall’s Yard.

Entrants must be aged 13 or under.

The deadline for entries is 5pm on Friday, November 13.

The winner will be contacted by the Marshall’s Yard team on Monday, November 16, so don’t forget to include a daytime contact number and email address.

The winner must also be available to be at Marshall’s Yard on Saturday, November 21, at 6pm to help Santa switch on the lights.
