Gainsborough: Take part in the Swimathon Challenge for Marie Curie Cancer Care

West Lindsey Leisure Centre has joined in to take on the Swimathon challenge and encourage swimmers in West Lindsey to take on Swimathon distance challenges as a team or as an individual to raise funds for Marie Curie.

The event will be held on Saturday 18th April starting at 5.30pm.

Register now as Swimathon 2015 is expecting 1,000s of swimmers to take on the challenge and go that extra length to help support Marie Curie provide care for people with terminal illnesses across the UK with hours of health care and professionals to support themselves and their families go through those tough times.

The involvement of Marie Curie with Swimathon goes back to 2007, reaching the incredible sum of over £9m raised from then until 2013.

Nanette Davenport, Swim Manager, said: “Swimathon is a fantastic way to bring our community together, to raise money for charity, and provides a great challenge to work towards for our dedicated swimmers.”

“Individuals and teams including families joined us in 2014 and we had a fantastic evening which we would like to better in 2015.”

“For those who want to help but don’t want to swim then lap counters and supporters are also needed to help make the event a success.”

Swimathon started in 1986 and half a million swimmers have taken part.

Swimathon challenges are designed to suit all levels of fitness, all abilities and all ages.

You can choose to take on one of the individual 1.5k, 2.5km or 5k challenges or the Team 1.5k and 5k.
