The fund has allocated £750,000 for projects in Gainsborough and is currently receiving applications from groups and organisations in the community.

The Council hopes to secure an estimated £200,000 which will be used to provide much needed upgrades and renovations, as well as new play equipment across the play parks owned by the Town Council in Gainsborough. If the grant application is successful, works are expected to commence in spring/early summer 2015.

The sites involved are the play parks at Aisby Walk, Danes Road, The Levellings, Mayflower Close, Richmond Park and St Georges.

The Council will be working with local primary schools in coming up with designs for the proposed revamp of the sites.

Essential to secure the funding is the support of the community so Gainsborough Town Council is appealing to users of the sites to contact them with ideas of how they would like to see the sites improved.

The FCC Building Communities programme has been developed to address local needs and issues relating to community facilities and will involve local people in its design and delivery. The aim is to help people make their communities better places to live in, now and in the future, by consulting with them and identifying, funding and delivering priority projects that will enhance their overall quality of life.
