Chris Brown, 44, from Gainsborough, first applied to go on the programme in 2012 but it wasn’t until the end of 2013 that he got the phone call inviting him to an audition.

Chris has been a fan of The Chase since it first came on the television and has always wanted to take part in the show.

Chris said: “It is something which is on my bucket list and something that I’ve always wanted to do.”

“In February last year I got the call back and I was asked to go to an audition.”

“At the audition you go through a quiz in a similar style to the show and there are also other questions and it is all recorded.”

“Then you are told if you will be shortlisted. There were eight people at my audition and two of us were shortlisted.”

“I got the final call in May to say they were offering me a slot on the show and it was filmed in June.”

Chris has had to stay tight lipped about how him and his fellow contestants did on the show until it airs. He would not even reveal which Chaser he went up against.

Chris said: “It has been a long wait.”

“I can see myself applying for more shows now.”

Chris’ appearance on The Chase, presented by Bradley Walsh, will be on ITV at 5pm on Friday 6th February.
