The company has agreed a lease with Dransfield Properties, the developers behind the ambitious town centre project which will transform a key site in the town centre.

West Lindsey District Council unanimously approved the £3m development in August last year and in October the Department for Communities and Local Government confirmed the decision could be determined locally, effectively giving final approval to the project.

The new scheme will transform the former Sun Inn site on the corner of Market Street and North Street in Gainsborough, the Edwardian style building has been carefully designed to reflect the architecture of the area.

Once complete, the new hotel will create 30 new jobs in the town.

Premier Inn is part of the Whitbread Group and is an award winning hotel chain which prides itself on providing comfort and quality.

The company offers quality accommodation at affordable prices and is consistently rated the UK’s Best Value Hotel Chain by YouGov.

The 51 rooms at the new Gainsborough hotel will all be equipped with comfortable king-sized beds, en-suite bathrooms, a TV with Freeview and Wi-Fi in every room.

There will also be a bar and restaurant offering a wide selection of meals and as well as full English and continental breakfasts.

Kevin Murray, Senior Acquisitions Manager for Whitbread Hotels and Restaurants, said: “We are delighted to be bringing a new 51-bedroom hotel to Gainsborough.”

“As well as delivering this new investment, the hotel will bring 30 new jobs for the local area.”

“The new hotel will help to boost footfall, which will in turn provide a boost to local shops, cafes and restaurants.”

“We look forward to working with our development partner, Dransfield Properties, and welcoming guests to our new hotel as soon as possible.”

Dave Hale, development surveyor from Dransfield Properties, said: “We are delighted to be working with Premier Inn on our hotel development for Gainsborough.”

“The development has been widely supported in the town and is extremely important for tourism as well as for businesses in the area.”

“I’m sure this latest news will be welcomed in Gainsborough and we look forward to working with Premier Inn on delivering their new hotel.”
