Brian Jenkins, who was headteacher of Parish School back in the 1950s, must have had very fond memories of his time there, as he generously remembered the managers of the school in his will.

“The children decided that they wanted to use the money to improve their playground,” said current headteacher Tracy Fulthorpe.

Last year the pupils had the opportunity to be involved in the planning process, working with a representative from Sovereign Playgrounds to decide which equipment to have and where it should go.

“The building work took place over the summer holiday and when the children came back to school in September, they were amazed at the transformation,” said Mrs Fulthorpe.

“The climbing wall, slides and giant spider’s web are particularly popular with the children in Key Stage 2, and the younger children really enjoy playing on the pirate ship.”

“The children think the new playground is ‘ace’, and can’t wait for the playtime bell to ring,” she added.
