Duncan Breeze was jailed for two years in 2007 after 4,270 indecent images were found on his computers, but went to prison protesting his innocence.

Following a trial at Luton crown court, he was convicted of 20 separate offences and placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for 10 years.

Mr Breeze is now a consultant to a company which provides income protection support for the unemployed, of which Sir Edward is non-executive chairman.

Sir Edward Leigh said: “Duncan Humber Breeze is a consultant on insurance law and litigation for a company of which I am a non-executive chairman.”

“In this capacity, he attended some meetings at the House of Commons in a group of people working for the company, which I attended in a professional capacity.”

“At these meetings, his past was not discussed, and he was present only to give professional advice on insurance.”

“I was not aware of the full details of his conviction.”
