John Brash is a leading name in the production of BSI graded timber roofing battens, scaffold boards, shingles and shakes cladding and commercial anti-slip decking.

The firm has as had an influx in orders from within the specialised sectors of the construction industry that has prompted a demand for timber products.

The Old Shipyard site has seen an uplift in production on the back of the reigniting of house building– boosted by incentive schemes such as Help To Buy which have increased the need for new timber and eco-friendly based building materials and health and safety solutions such as anti-slip decking.

Part of the work force extension, means John Brash has teamed up with Elevation Recruitment in a bid to recruit a dynamic production manager to head the team of operatives and take responsibility for production and quality control.

“We work closely with roofers, scaffolders and architects and in recent months the number of orders has increased significantly,” said Brian Lancaster, a John Brash production director.

“John Brash is one of the UK’s largest scaffolding manufacturers and we are developing an exciting export market, delivering into construction sites and building merchants.

“It is apparent that confidence is returning to the construction market.”

The fourth generation family-owned organisation has also revealed that it has invested in the only UK machine grading line for the JB Red BS5534 roofing batten.

This will allow fully graded roofing battens to be managed on site whilst boasting great health and safety benefits.

With the search underway for a new production manager, John Bohan, the elevation recruitment director, detailed the exact criteria both parties will be looking for to fill the new vacancy.

He said. “The criteria is experience and ambition, with businesses eager to maintain a reputation for quality whilst keeping down costs.”

“For this role, John Brash’s ideal candidate will be someone with management experience who has great ideas about how we can continue to expand the business.
