Gainsborough: Johnsons are named Chip Shop of the Year
You voted for Johnsons Traditional Fish and Chips to be named your Chip Shop of the Year.
Rob and Teresa Johnson only opened Johnsons Traditional Fish and Chips in Caskgate Street, Gainsborough, in May last year.
Rob said: “We’re chuffed to bits.”
“The amount of customers we seem to have is phenomenal.”

He said: “I used to work at Castle School and a lot of our customers are the pupils I knew while I was there who have now grown up.”
Rob has been in catering since he was 14-years-old and in the past he has worked as a catering manager at Castle School and Trent Valley Academy.
Despite only having been open since May, customers are queuing out the door on a Friday night to get their fish and chips.

“Friday night is our bread and butter. Thursday and Saturday are busy as well and lunch times get better when the weather is nicer. People come here to get their fish and chips and then go down to eat them by the river.”
Standard editor Ben Green presented the award to Rob and Teresa, which they said they will display proudly in the shop.
