Gainsborough: Gymnasts bring home gold at the British Gymnastics Disability Championships

Gymnasts from Apex Academy in Gainsborough took home three gold and one silver medal at the British Gymnastics Disability Championships.

Apex Academy, based at West Lindsey Leisure Centre, has been going from strength to strength since it was first established in 2010 and were extremely pleased to have been represented by four gymnasts at this year’s Disability Championships.

Aimee Clover, 10, Georgia Shearman, 15, Lauren Douce, 10, and Holly Stephenson, nine, have spent the last few months perfecting their performance and their hard work paid off and they came away with four medals at the championships which were held at the Lilleshall National Sports Centre earlier this month.

Head Coach- Becky Chambers said: “All four gymnasts put their heart and soul into every performance, they all have trained hard to be where they are now and deserve recognition for their efforts, I am unbelievably proud of them.”

‘This competition is a fantastic way of showing that gymnastics is a sport for everyone to enjoy and be involved in.”

“I sincerely hope that the disability gymnastics circuit become more and more popular and continues to grow.”

All the gymnasts and supporters were elated with the results and they are already look forward to defending their titles at next years championships.
