Gainsborough: Grants support events for kids at GAPA

Each year Christmas is a special time at GAPA, as they hold a series of events and activities with the children and families on the run up to the big day.

For the second year running Coun Nigel Bowler has funded £500 towards the cost of the events.

They will be running two Christmas workshops, lunch with Santa for children aged up to four, a Christmas party for children and families of all ages and a visit to the pantomime at Lincoln Theatre Royal.

In July Coun Richy Doran came to the rescue with a grant of £1,874 to replace the old equipment with a sit and ride mower.

Coun Doran was pleased to invest in such an important piece of equipment.

“I was really pleased to be able to help out, and I am sure that GAPA will get plenty of use out of it in the future,” he said.

Lisa Pinkney, playground manager, said: “At GAPA there is over two acres of green field site which in the warmer months takes a lot of looking after and the playworkers use hours of valuable time cutting the grass with worn out old equipment. We really needed some help.”

In May they received £183 from Coun Mark Binns’ fund for a Mobile Planetarium to visit the children during the half term activities.

The planetarium gave the children the chance to experience an exploration of the Cosmos where they could fully interact and participate and take away a vivid and lasting impression of the night sky.

The events give children the chance to take part in activities to have fun, make memories and learn.

GAPA works with children from birth to 14 years of age at its base on Riseholme Road in Gainsborough.

It currently has over 400 children registered as members and is open six days a week.
