Gainsborough: Get ready for the Riverside Festival

Today’s Gainsborough Riverside Festival will celebrate the arrival of the Vikings along the River Trent.

Gainsborough Goes Norse will remember Sweyn Forkbeard, King of Denmark, who beat the Ango-Saxons to be declared King of England.

He briefly ruled England and Denmark from the town, before dying five weeks later.
