Gainsborough: Free Christmas lunch for those who are spendingthe festive season alone

The Gainsborough Christmas Day Lunch Committee will once again be holding its traditional free Christmas Day lunch for people who might otherwise be spending Christmas Day alone to enjoy.

The festive meal, which is provided free, will be held on Christmas Day at Gainsborough House in Parnell Street, Gainsborough.

The meal will be starting with coffee, tea and mince pies being served at 11am.

And to help guests get into the festive spirit carols will be sung accompanied by the piano and Santa Claus will be distributing presents.

Transport to and from the venue can be provided for anyone living in Gainsborough, Lea or Morton who cannot get under their own steam.

The Christmas Lunch is now in its 40th year and is provided free of charge thanks to generous donations from the local community.

If anyone would like to help make Christmas more cheerful for around 40 to 50 people who would otherwise be on their own this year donations of any kind would be most welcome.

These can be sent to chairman Michael Wragg at Gainsborough House Community Centre, 18 Parnell Street, Gains borough, DN21 2NB.

Car drivers are also needed to help transport guests to and from the event.

If anyone expects to be on their own this Christmas Day and would like to come as a guest, an invitation letter can be picked up on mornings at Gainsborough House Community Centre or call 01427 811160.

Applications to attend should be returned to Gainsborough House by December 11.

For more information about this event call 01427 616852 or 07766 744035.
