Gainsborough: Don’t eat your Christmas Dinner alone this year

The Gainsborough Christmas Day Lunch Committee will be holding its traditional Christmas Day Lunch and they are inviting anyone who would otherwise be spending Christmas Day alone to join them for a free traditional Christmas lunch and turn what would have been a lonely day into a memorable festive occasion.

The festive meal, which is provided free, will be held on Christmas Day at Gainsborough House, Parnell Street starting with coffee, tea and mince pies being served at 11am.

Carols will be sung accompanied by the piano and Santa Claus will be distributing presents.

Transport to and from the venue can be provided for anyone living in Gainsborough, Lea or Morton who cannot get under their own steam.

The Christmas Lunch is now in its 39th year and is provided free of charge thanks to generous donations from the local community.

If anyone would like to help make Christmas more cheerful for around 40 to 50 people who would otherwise be on their own, donations of any kind would be most welcome.

These can be sent by post to Christmas Day Lunch committee chairman Michael Wragg at Gainsborough House Community Centre, 18 Parnell Street, Gains borough, DN21 2NB.

They are also looking for car drivers who can help transport our guests to and from the event.

If anyone expects to be on their own this Christmas and would like to attend for lunch as a guest an invitation letter can be picked any mornings from Gainsborough House Community Centre in or you can call 01427 811160.

Applications to attend should be returned to Gainsborough House by Tuesday 9th December.

For more information call 01427 616852 or 07766 744035.
