Gainsborough: Cycle ride helped raise funds for the Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance

A cheque was presented to Notts and Lincs Air Ambulance at an event at The Eight Jolly Brewers in Gainsborough

The cash was raised as part of the 2014 National Bike Week Air Ambulance cycle ride.

This event was a joint event involving Gainsborough Aegir Cycling Club, West Lincolnshire Cyclists Touring Club and Gainsborough Cycles, as well as individual cyclists.

Gainsborough Aegir Cycling Club member Colin Smith raised the most cash and he received a Gainsborough Cycles voucher as a award.

VIP guests at the presentation evening were Ann and Geoff Crawforth who received the cash for the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance.

The ride, which was held in June, proved a big hit with many riders enjoying rides suitable for families and individuals of all ages.

The two ride distances that proved the most popular were 15 miles though Upton and Kexby.

The longer ride was a 30 mile ride that took riders out to Sturton by Stow across country to Brattleby.

And after climbing the steep ascent of the Lincolnshire Edge, rides then headed to Harpswell returning to Gainsborough via Heapham.

The National Bike Week cheque presentation evening was organised by Daniel Nicholson, Rachel Bradford and Trevor Halstead.

The Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance is a dedicated Helicopter Emergency Medical Service which first began flying operations in Lincolnshire in April 1994 and the helicopter based at RAF Waddington.
