Colleagues from Lincolnshire Co-op will be swapping their day jobs to spruce up local communities during this year’s Co-operatives Fortnight from Saturday 20th June to Saturday 4th July.
Once a year co-ops up come together to show why they are local, loved and trusted. This year the Big Co-op Clean will see thousands of staff and members from co-operative businesses up and down the country lend a hand by volunteering.
They could be cleaning up the local park, helping an elderly neighbour or collecting old clothes for charity.
Lincolnshire Co-op will be taking part in seven volunteering projects around its trading area and the team are looking for willing helpers to pitch in!
Members, junior members, staff, customers and other co-ops are invited to join Society colleagues who’ll be clearing nature areas, holding a beach clean, cutting back plants at local parks and litter picking.
Clean ups will be taking place at Laughton Woods, Gainsborugh on Thursday 2nd July from 10.30am to and plan to finish at 12.30pm with lunch provided.
Community Engagement Manager Sam Turner said: “We’re really looking forward to getting stuck into some volunteering projects in our communities and it’s even better doing it as part of a country-wide event.”
“It’s a perfect way to celebrate Co-operatives Fortnight and demonstrate how working co-operatively helps us achieve great results. We hope people will be able to spare a couple of hours of their time to help the local environment.”
If you’d like to volunteer please register your attendance at www.lincolnshire.coop/events or call Lincolnshire Co-op’s Membership and Community team on 01522 544 632.
