Gainsborough: Car parking charges to increase

A small increase in parking charges in Gainsborough has been announced by West Lindsey District Council.

The rates were decided at the full council meeting on Monday 2nd March.

In exercise of its powers under Section 35C of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers, charges will increase from 13th April.

The prices changes are as follows.

Up to two hours is £1, two to four hours is £1.90 and over four hours is to be set at £3.50.

The car parks which will make the changes in charges are Ship Court car park, Whitton Gardens car park, Guildhall in Lord Street, the council car park at the rear of former the Guildhall, council car parks to north and west of former Guildhall, Roseway car park, and Bridge Street car park.

For the North Street car park, the following applies, during hours and days of operation it is £2.30, for season ticket from Monday to Saturday it will cost £50.20 per quarter and for season ticket holders from Monday to Friday it will cost £42.70 per quarter.

Charges for the Beaumont Street multi-storey car park are, during hours and days of operation, up to two hours 90p, two to four hours £1.70 and over four hours £2.80.

And five and six day season tickets are as per North Street.

If parking infringements occur a release fee is £60 or £35 if paid within seven days.

Penalty charges payable on charges per quarter will be for the higher rate £70 (£35 if paid within 14 days) and for the lower rate £50 (£25 if paid within 14 days).

Penalty Charge Notices have replaced the Excess Charge Notice.

The Traffic Management Act 2004 has introduced differential Penalty Charge Notices.

Notices are categorised as ‘High’ or ‘Lower’ dependent on the severity of the parking infringement.

Higher penalties are payable at £70 and lower penalties at £50.

These categories are as determined in National Guidance.
