And once again the hard work has paid off, with a 99.5 per cent pass rate.

Half of all student achieved at least one A grade, with 26 students gaining three or more A or A* grades.

And an impressive four students managed to achieve a staggering five A* grades - and unprecedented number for the school.

Headteacher David Allsop said: “University places are harder than ever to gain with greater competition, and restricted places for some courses.”

“However, almost half of our students have gained the high grades required to access the best courses. This is due to the hard work and dedication of the students, their parents and teachers of QEHS, working together to ensure the students give their best.”

“As headteacher of QEHS I am extremely grateful for all of the work that goes into these results, our students deserve the best and they certainly get it here.”

“As usual there are many personal and individual triumphs hidden amongst these results.”

One of those was Jack Remmington, who achieved A* grades in geography, chemistry and general studies and an A in biology. He is off to Oxford to study geography in October.

“I am elated. I have done better than I thought I would and can’t wait to start my course in October,” he said.

Twins Tom and Luke Carney were also amongst the high achievers.

Tom is off to Oxford to study English after getting A* grades in geography, biology and general studies and an A in English.

Brother Luke will be studying law at Nottingham after getting A* grades in biology, history, chemistry and general studies.

Cambridge is the destination for Jessica Padley after she got five A* grades in biology, chemistry, maths, physics and general studies. She will be studying medicine.

“I was predicted these grades but I didn’t think I could get all of them, so I’m really happy,” she said.

“I am incredibly proud of this great school and am please and grateful that we continue to receive the support of the local community,” added Mr Allsop.
