Scott Mayor, a former police constable, was jailed for six months at Derby Crown Court on Thursday, August 4.

Mayor, 45, of Blueberry Close, Inkersall, in Derbyshire, was arrested at his home in April 2015 by Derbyshire Police on suspicion of possessing indecent images of children.

He later pleaded guilty to six counts of making indecent images of children.

He was dismissed from Nottinghamshire Police in 2015.

Chief Inspector Paul Murphy, of Nottinghamshire Police’s Professional Standards Department, said: “We welcome the sentence given to Scott Mayor.

“The Chief Constable ordered the dismissal without notice of Mayor when presented with irrefutable evidence of his criminal behaviour.

“Mayor brought shame on himself and betrayed the oath of office he took when he became a police officer.

“This was a gross breach of trust and invasion of privacy in a pre-meditated manner for his own sexual gratification. I cannot overstate the gravity of his breach and betrayal of his duty to protect the most vulnerable people in our society.

“Nottinghamshire Police insists upon the highest standards of honesty and integrity from its officers. Those who fall below those standards will be held to account.”
