Football Shorts - All the latest transfer news from Arsenal, MAnchester City, QPR, Everton, Liverpool, Leeds United and Bradford City

There are only two days of the transfer window left, and things are beginning to look rather frantic – with QPR in particular seemingly on the brink of transfer-meltdown.

It was always going to bring us fantastic entertainment – coupling together a chairman willing to throw money at problems with a manager who loves signing players for the sake of it, at a club who are rock bottom of the Premier League in January, with a squad of ageing stars that desperately needs freshening up – it’s the recipe for the sort of transfer catastrophe-gold not seen since Liverpool’s great cash-burn of 2011.

Having already signed Loic Remy and Yun Suk-young this window, the papers are already rife with speculation regarding Redknapp’s targets, with talk of Christopher Samba, Etienne Capoue, and even Peter Crouch(!) arriving at Loftus Road.

Another big shock today, Sky Sports have reported this morning that Manchester City have actually managed to sell one of their strikers (for real money!).

Manager Roberto Mancini has confirmed that Mario Balotelli is nearing the end of his two-and-a-half years at the Ethihad, with AC Milan thought to have come to an agreement with the club to sign the striker on a permanent basis.

However, Mancini said the striker is unlikely to be replaced – hardly surprising when the club has in-form trio Carlos Tevez, Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko to fill their lone-striker role.

Don’t take your eye off Arsenal before tomorrow evening. According to the Daily Mail, the club’s chiefs have held a summit at their HQ in order to salvage something from this window. Remember their August 2011 deadline-day spend – £10m on Per Mertesacker?

Philippe Coutinho is expected to complete his £8.5 million move from Inter Milan to Liverpool today.
