The club’s commercial director John Myskiw said he hoped the move would encourage people to spend their money with local business.

“We came up with the idea after trying to think of a way to get local businesses involved with the club,” he said.

“I am a firm believer that we need to do more to support our community and our local businesses. This is our way of helping regenerate the business community here in the town and benefit our customers too.”

Barry Owen, who runs the BWO Motor Company on North Street, is one of the founder members of the scheme.

He said: “I’ve signed up for the scheme as the money simply isn’t in the club anymore. I want to see the club thrive, not just survive, and this is a way that we can help out.”

Libby Clarke, managing director of local driving school Libby Clarke Ltd, said the businesses were keen to help.

She added: “Although individually none of the companies involved have the financial clout of Peter Swann, we all have Gainsborough Trinity at heart and want to help out. This scheme allows us to give something to the club but also the fans.

At Gainsborough Physiotherapy Clinic after five visits customers can claim for one ticket and people taking out business or liability insurance with Swinton Insurance can claim two tickets.

Anyone who books 10 hours or more with Libby Clarke Driving Instructors will receive one ticket, or two tickets for booking on the fixed price course.
