Premier Foods offers apprenticeships in engineering and manufacturing, and has been ranked 43rd by the review and feedback website RateMyApprenticeship. Within the category for retail and fast-moving consumer goods, the company is as high as fourth.

The honour comes as no surprise after the success of four dedicated engineering apprentices working at the Worksop factory and studying at West Nottinghamshire College in Mansfield.

Will Gray, Ayden Hall, Alex Stringfellow and Alex Pressley progressed through various levels of training before becoming the first apprentices at the college to gain distinction grades across all modules of their final programme.

Wayne Hall, head of engineering at the Claylands Avenue factory, said: “We are so proud of them. They have worked incredibly hard.

“This really shows how valuable apprenticeships can be. We are passionate about our apprenticeship schemes as they allow us to invest in the stars of the future and offer people a bright career.”

Premier Foods makes iconic household brands such as Bisto, Oxo, Batchelors and Mr Kipling.

THE successful four apprentices at Premier Foods are full of praise for the support the company has given them.

Alex Stringfellow said: “I was always unsure of what I wanted to do for a job, but this apprenticeship has been a great opportunity to start a career. I was surprised at how quickly I picked up skills, and I have learned so much.”

Will Gray said: “I firmly believe apprenticeships are one of the best routes to take after school. It has been a brilliant chance to learn while earning money with a reputable company.”

Premier Foods is currently recruiting its next group of apprentices. Go to its website for more information.
