Five reasons to watch Sheffield Steelers v Belfast Giants

Steelers have just beaten Giants this week, away from home. Can they keep repeat the feat at the Arena on Saturday?

1: Steelers and Giants are two huge clubs. They are both chasing glory and entering a weekend where they could be jettisoned out of the title race. The old phrase “MUST WIN” game holds true.

2: Both rosters are banged up. Giants are playing one of their top forwards, former Steeler Mike Forney on defence as injuries hit over the last two weeks. Steelers are playing injured bodies when they should be wrapped up at home. Courage, guts, desire. Isn’t that why we love this sport?

3: Just two weeks after being helped off the ice Marek Pinc is back – some said 6 weeks, some said 8 – this tough old boot, this ex-Czech international goalie says “My team needs me now.”

4: Roy Vs. Forney. Last year these two were the perfect double act scoring for fun. Injuries haven’t prevented Roy breaking out and having a similar season. Forney hasn’t hit the same highs. This weekend could be the weekend that one again leads the way and drives their team on to success.

5: On Monday the Sheffield Arena reported to the club had enjoyed the biggest pre sale total of any (non Nottingham) game this season. It is going to be a loud and proud night.
