Five Nottinghamshire men jailed for stolen cable offences

The group stole the cables across Nottingham and were arrested following an operation by Nottinghamshire Police.

The men were all sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court on Thursday, November 5

Stuart Stubbings, 43, of Britannia Avenue, Old Basford, and James Galvin, 46, of Southfield Road, Nottingham, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to steal electrical distribution cable between 1 October 2012 and 27 January 2014.

Both men also pleaded guilty of one count each of using criminal property for financial gain.

Stubbings received a two-year jail sentence, while Galvin was imprisoned for 18 months.

Martin Seary, 51, of Bladon Close, Nottingham, Darren Seagrave, 39, of Murby Crescent, Bulwell, and Craig Fear, 28, of Titchfield Terrace, Hucknall, also pleaded guilty to the above offence.

Seary and Seagrave were sentenced to one year each in prison. Fear was jailed for 10 months.

In addition, Sam Clarke, 22, of Trowell Avenue, Bilborough, was given a five month prison sentence suspended for 12 months and ordered to complete 200 hours of unpaid work.

In addition to the sentences, all five will be subject to Proceeds of Crime Act proceedings, which could result in their assets being seized to pay back money they have made from their crime.
