First look inside landmark Notts pub after major revamp

From falling down signs to a sparkling exterior and rustic chic interior – one Kirkby pub has changed a lot in a few weeks.

Kingsway pub has had £390,000 invested by Heineken-owned Star Pubs and Barsm to give it its new look.

And, to top it off the pub also has new landlords.

Henry and Leah Laycock, the pub’s new licensees, have working in hospitality for more than a decade.

But, Kingsway is their first pub.

Henry said: “We’ve spent two years looking for our ideal pub. We love Kirkby, and knew Kingsway was the one for us as soon as we walked in.

"We wanted a pub that would be a focal point of local life where people could get together and socialise.”

The pub was previously given a dramatic makeover in 2013 after it was targeted by thieves and arsonists.

At the moment the pub is kitted out in Christmas decorations and is open 11am to 11pm Sunday to Thursday and 11am to midnight Friday and Saturday.

Take a look at the what the pub looks like now.
