Eight crews from across the region in Worksop, Retford, Harworth, Mansfield, Edlington, Staveley, Rotherham and Doncaster were called in to the battle the fire which broke out at Plum Tree Road industrial estate yesterday afternoon (Tuesday, April 20).

A photo emerged on social media of a huge, black plume of smoke billowing from an industrial building at the site that could be seen all over Worksop.

Resident Michelle Rossington said she could see the smoke plume as far as Carlton.

Residents were warned to keep their doors and windows closed. Nobody is thought to have been harmed in the incident.

A spokesperson for Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that firefighters remain at the scene, dampening down the fire.

They added: “A fire investigation will be carried out later today to determine to cause.”
