Fire at Retford fish and chip shop

The blaze broke out at the premises in Exchange Street at around 9.45am this morning (Wednesday).

It is believed the fire began in the ducting and then spread to the rest of the shop.

Firefighters from Retford spent around three hours at the scene extingushing the fire.

A Notts Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said that everyone had been evacuated from the two-storey building before crews arrived at the scene.
