Fiancé pays tearful tribute to Carly Lovett during funeral service

Liam Moore, who had been with Carly since they were young teenagers, fought back tears as he addressed the hundreds who had attended the service at All Saints’ Church, Gainsborough.

The pair had been on their first overseas holiday together in Tunisia when Carly was gunned down by a terrorist last month.

Liam, 24, said: “I have been fortunate enough to have ten-and-a-half amazing years, she was my best friend, my fiancé and my soul mate.

“She was absolutely beautiful and I have never felt closer to anyone in my life. Sometime our thoughts were in sync.

“My love for her has kept growing and growing.

“Even though we had been together so long, I felt like our lives had just started.

“I feel incredibly empty without her.

“I was fortunate enough to be with Carly, and not many people are that lucky.

“I hope she took comfort in knowing I was there with her, I know she would have never left me.

“I will never stop loving her.”

Hundreds of mourners had lined the route into All Saint’s Church for the ceremony this morning as the hearse carrying Carly’s body was slowly driven up to the church entrance.

Many more stood at a distant watching on.

The service was taken by Canon Mike Cooney, who described Carly as a remarkable person who was ‘bright, talented, creative, caring, witty and amusing’.

He added: “Not only was she a bright and talented individual, she was good with people and popular too.

“She met a lot of good friends at school and university, and she always seemed to see the best in people and did not like it when people were upset.”

Others to pay tribute were friends Kristina Mann and Joanne Richardson, who also fought back tears as they addressed the congregation.

Along with traditional hymns, there were also tracks chosen by her family and friends, including ‘Starlight’ by Muse and ‘You and Me song’ by The Wannadies.

The service was followed by a private family committal.

Carly, 24, was among the first victims to be named following the massacre at the beach resort of Port El Kantoui on June 26.

She was a former student at the University of Lincoln, and the School of Film and Media.

She was on holiday with her fiancé Liam Moore, who survived the attack. She and Liam were childhood sweethearts and had been together for 10 years.

Carly worked as a photographer for e-commerce website Fizzco.

In a statement issued shortly after the attack, her family, parents Joanne and Kev, fiance Liam, sister Jordan, brother Daniel, stepfather John, stepmother Tracey, and step brothers Simon and Max, said: “Carly was and always will be our beautiful shining light; she was funny, clever, artistic and radiated love and happiness around her.

“Carly may you soar with the angels and we pray with all our hearts that this evil, and such disregard for human life, will end so no other family will feel the pain that we do today and always will.”
